FRIDAY 8:52 PM SEPTEMBER 20, 2024 MILAN
Friday evening’s Versace SS25 presentation was perhaps the most star-studded show thus far at Milan Fashion Week. There was major heat on the runway, courtesy of Gigi Hadid and Iris Law, but things got even steamier when our editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg scanned the audience and saw Channing Tatum, who appears as a Greek god in the campaign for Versace’s standout fragrance, Eros. Of course, the Magic Mike star enjoyed a distinguished modeling career himself before taking over the big screen, but he never got to walk a Versace show. “I got to walk for a whole bunch of others,” he said, “but to be able to sit here and come full circle is pretty rad.” As the crowds cleared out, Tatum told us why selling sex the Versace way will never go out of style.

MEL OTTENBERG: We’re in Milan at Versace with the iconic….
CHANNING TATUM: Iconic? I don’t know about that.
TAYLORE SCARABELLI: No, you are iconic. And I loved your new movie.
TATUM: Thank you very much.
OTTENBERG: What are we wearing?
TATUM: We’re wearing Versace. Now, come on.
OTTENBERG: Full 90s look, actually.
TATUM: We love a little Gianni.
OTTENBERG: What did you think of the show?
TATUM: I loved the show. It was super fun and completely different than last season’s. I’m bad at descriptions, but it felt very mod and like, 60s or 70s. I love the whole thing. There was a blue trench coat that I’m definitely going to steal. Donatella, you’re gonna need to send that to me.
OTTENBERG: Any favorite Versace moments that come to mind?
TATUM: Yeah, I came to Milan for three years each season, so six times in total. And I never got Versace. I never got to actually walk this runway. I got to walk for a whole bunch of others, but to be able to sit here and come full circle is pretty rad.
OTTENBERG: What does Eros smell like? Does it smell sexy?
TATUM: It smells like energy, man.
OTTENBERG: Eros is the sex god.
TATUM: It’s like a sexy, energetic god.
LYAS: Do you think sex still sells?
TATUM: Sex will always sell, hopefully.
LYAS: You’ll be here to make sure it does.
TATUM: As long as anybody wants it, I’ll be here to sell it.
