Kaley and Karl announced their divorce in 2021 after five years together. In a joint statement to People magazine, they noted, “Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions.”
Legal documents revealed that Kaley, who had an “ironclad prenup” to protect her earnings, asked the court to deny Karl any spousal support.
The following year, Kaley opened up about the aftermath of the divorce in detail, describing it as one of the “hardest” experiences of her life. In fact, things got so bad that the actor decided to stage an intervention for herself while shooting her HBO Max series The Flight Attendant.
“One month in, I had an intervention on myself in my trailer — all my producers were in there. And I said, ‘I need help.’ It was interesting to say that out loud. And to have everyone be like, ‘Yes, we want to help!’” she shared.
