Need some shopping inspiration? In Lucky 13, fashion tastemakers share the 13 items they’re loving so much, they’d hit “Add to Cart” twice.
Liza Berglund Laserow knows all too well that styling a home takes as much research, scrutiny, and vision as building one’s wardrobe. The co-founder of Swedish textile brand Nordic Knots, she spends hours looking to the past for reference, marrying decor that can satisfy a contemporary palate with Scandinavian functionality.
At the moment, Laserow is finding inspiration in the interiors of Armani Casa circa 1980 and Donna Karan’s New York penthouse, which was immortalized by François Halard in the early ’00s. Or, as she puts it to Bazaar: “Anything with black floors, gallery white walls, and chrome furniture, such as Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer.” The result is a rotating collection that includes elegant tapestries and large-scale rugs in earthy tones like Milano green, brick red, and deep blue, along with Mondrian-esque prints—accent pieces that make a statement once set against a tastefully, blank slate.
Last month, Nordic Knots made a permanent home Stateside with the opening of its flagship store in New York City. True to the brand, the inside feels both grounding and electrifying with towering white ceilings and minimalist, cool-toned furniture, set off by splashes of vibrant colors and glitzy animal print. The look is chic, smart, and—most importantly—never complicated.
Below, Laserow shares the staple pieces filling out her wardrobe and her home this summer and beyond.
Is there an everyday piece you swear by?
Really great and crisp shirts from Charvet and the Row. Ironed without a wrinkle.
Go-to dress?
Double-breasted blazer dress in black silk from La Collection. Perfect as is with skinny heels, or with vintage Levi’s and flats.
What are the accessories you can’t leave the house without?
My jewelry, watch, and sunglasses.
The shoes you grab when you want to feel sexy?
My new Prada satin heels. Just got a pair of heels again after many years of swearing by flats. It’s time to get up on the stilts and bring sexy back!
Is there a work bag or two that never lets you down?
The Bolide bag from Hermès and the Banana bag in leather from the Row, both in black.
The evening bag that works for dinner, drinks, and everything in between?
My vintage oversize clutch in black crocodile or a boxy Toteme raffia clutch.
What are the three beauty products getting you through the summer?
Augustinus Bader’s the Rich Cream and the Face Oil and a jade gua sha stone—not only for summer but every day, twice a day, and all year around.
Is there a recent homeware purchase that has refreshed your living space?
Nordic Knots curtains in pale blue. I switched from ochre yellow and it felt like a breeze of fresh air. I’m so into cool shades at the moment.
What fashion items keep you coming back for more?
Chanel ballerinas and a red cashmere sweater, as well as vintage Levi’s. I think I have had those pieces in my closet in different versions for 15 or 20 years.
Home decor?
Our Grand Rug collection—as soon as we make a new color, I fall in love. I want to change it all up and reupholster all my furniture to make it work with the rug. I have our Grand in a pencil-gray color [not yet released], and I’m changing my home to all black and white combined, with cool shades of blue and purple.
