Pete and his bandmates Carl Barat, Gary Powell and John Hassell will be taking to the stage at Gunnersbury Park in August.

And they announced their huge news in true Libertines style – with a very chaotic TikTok video.

The clip begins with singer and guitarist Carl saying: “Alright, guys.

“We’re in Gunnersbury Park because we’ve got a big gig here, one of our biggest ever gigs, on August 9th next year.

“Now Pete has been writing to some of our friends in bands and finding out who is going to be there with us.

“Has anyone actually seen Pete?”

Gary shakes his head, as John replies: “Well he’s in the water waiting for his cue, isn’t he?”

Carl tells him: “Alright, Gary, you’d better give him his cue.”

Gary walks towards a big lake and shouts “action” while clapping his hands together.

Pete, who famously dated super model Kate Moss, then emerges from the water, drenched from head to toe.

Pete Doherty breaks down while reliving moment he was ‘kicked out’ Libertines

The singer is wearing his iconic red Military jacket from the Libertines’ heyday, with a bare chest underneath.

“Did anyone get back to you on support?” asks Carl.

Pete replies: “Yeah, I heard from Morrissey. Yeah, don’t think he’s up for it.”

When asked what Morrissey’s “exact words” were, Pete says: “His exact words were, ‘No’.”

Standing up in just his jacket and boxer shorts, he continues: “Real Farmer are up for doing it.

“Hak Baker is well up for it. The Lambrini Girls! Soft play…”

The band look puzzled, before pretending to have heard of the English punk rock group.

Pete then says that fellow mega indie band Supergrass will be joining them at Gunnersbury Park.

The band shout ‘alright’, before telling Pete they’ll ‘see him next year’.

Pete turns around and heads back into the lake, before muttering: “I’m not going back under.”

The Libertines formed in 1997 but they hit the big time in the noughties.

They landed a UK Number 1 in 2004 with their self-titled album The Libertines.

Their 2004 single Can’t Stand Me Now charted at No2 and the band had three further top 20 songs.

Their most recognisable track to date, however, is Don’t Look Back Into The Sun, which became the title track for hit BBC comedy series Gavin & Stacey.

The band also gained notoriety for Pete’s relationship with Kate Moss and his addiction to Class A drugs.

Now clean, Pete has spoken openly about his struggle with drugs, which led to his arrest on numerous occasions.

Last year, he told documentary maker Louis Theroux that he was a “very sick man” due to his lifestyle.

Earlier this year, Pete revealed he has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

The musician told The Guardian’s Saturday magazine: “I gave up the main poisons and my health improved.

“Then you get told alcohol and cheese and sugar are just as bad and you were healthier when you were on heroin.”

He admitted that he is “a bit of a glutton”, adding: “It’s not a joke. I’ve been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

“And at the moment I’m lacking the discipline to tackle cholesterol.”

Pete welcomed a baby girl, named Billie-May Doherty, with his wife Katia de Vidas in May last year.
